Site-specific Extraction for Supported Websites

OmniTranslate's browser extension includes specialized extraction support for websites that do not always expose chapter text normally, including VIP and protected chapters.
Why Site-Specific Extraction?
Some novel websites hide VIP or paywalled chapter text in ways that normal text extraction cannot read. General screenshot OCR can help, but its accuracy may vary and processing large screenshots can add extra cost.
For supported websites, the extension uses an extraction process tailored to how that site displays its chapters. Depending on the website, it may read page data, capture rendered text, or use OCR only when needed. This is more reliable than applying the same general OCR process everywhere.
Site-specific extraction is completely free to use, with no additional OCR processing cost. It is currently available for Qidian, JJWXC, and Kakao. Each website behaves differently: some can be processed quietly in the background, while others need their window to remain visible and focused.
Getting Started
Install the official OmniTranslate browser extension and enable Extension Scraping under Settings → Translation. See Translating Protected Sites for setup instructions.
Qidian
The extension uses site-specific extraction for Qidian VIP chapters. Extracting some chapters requires the Qidian window to stay focused and undisturbed, which may briefly interrupt your reading.
To configure Qidian, open Settings → Translation → Advanced Features, then select Configure under Site-specific Extraction.
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Auto | Lets the extension decide when focused extraction is needed. This is the default, but some chapters may be less accurate. |
| Always focus | Keeps the Qidian window focused during extraction for better accuracy. Leave the window focused and avoid interacting with it until extraction finishes. |
| Never focus | Never focuses the Qidian window. VIP chapters that require focused extraction will not work with this option. |
JJWXC
The extension automatically uses its specialized extraction process for JJWXC VIP chapters when needed. It can run in the background without focusing or interrupting your current window.
This behavior is automatic and cannot be changed in Settings.
Kakao
The extension automatically uses its specialized extraction process for both free and VIP Kakao chapters. The Kakao window must stay focused and undisturbed while extraction runs, so it may briefly interrupt what you are doing.
