Explore site-specific chapter extraction in the browser extension and mobile app. Use Extension Settings to manage the browser extension's general cache and extraction preferences.
Paid chapters
Before extracting a paid chapter, make sure you are signed in to the related source site with an account that has access to that chapter.
Open Extension Settings
In the OmniTranslate app, open Settings → Translation → Advanced Features, then select Configure under Extension Settings.
Install the official OmniTranslate browser extension and use Extension Scraping to extract chapters with it. See Translating Protected Sites for setup instructions.
On the OmniTranslate website, extension extraction uses the browser extension. The mobile app uses its built-in browser. To sign in on mobile, go to Account → Security → Source Site Login, select the source site, and open its browser to sign in. Extension Settings apply only to the extension.
General
Clear extension cache
Select Clear cache in the General section to remove temporary data cached by the extension. This is an extension-wide action, not a setting for a particular website or extraction method.
Your settings, translations, and pending chapter imports are kept. Cached data is rebuilt as you use the extension again. Wait for Extension cache cleared. before retrying an operation.
If the button shows Connect extension, make sure the OmniTranslate browser extension is installed, enabled, and connected to the app. If it shows Update required, update or reload the extension, then reload the app page. These states disable clearing until a compatible extension is connected.
On small screens, the button appears below Clear extension cache.
Site-specific settings
OmniTranslate's browser extension includes specialized extraction support for websites that do not always expose chapter text normally, including VIP and protected chapters.
Why Site-Specific Extraction?
Some novel websites hide VIP or paywalled chapter text in ways that normal text extraction cannot read. General screenshot OCR can help, but its accuracy may vary and processing large screenshots can add extra cost.
For supported websites, the extension uses an extraction process tailored to how that site displays its chapters. Depending on the website, it may read page data, capture rendered text, or use OCR only when needed. This is more reliable than applying the same general OCR process everywhere.
Site-specific extraction is completely free to use, with no additional OCR processing cost. It is currently available for Qidian, JJWXC, Kakao, Ciweimao, Fanqie, and SFACG. Each website behaves differently: some can be processed quietly in the background, while others need their window to remain visible and focused.

Qidian
The extension uses site-specific extraction for Qidian VIP chapters. Extracting some chapters requires the Qidian window to stay focused and undisturbed, which may briefly interrupt your reading.
In Extension Settings → Site-specific settings → Qidian, choose how the extension handles focused extraction.
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Auto | Lets the extension decide when focused extraction is needed. This is the default, but some chapters may be less accurate. |
| Always focus | Keeps the Qidian window focused during extraction for better accuracy. Leave the window focused and avoid interacting with it until extraction finishes. |
| Never focus | Never focuses the Qidian window. VIP chapters that require focused extraction will not work with this option. |
In the mobile app, the Qidian reader may scroll automatically during extraction. Leave it undisturbed until it finishes.
JJWXC
The extension automatically uses its specialized extraction process for JJWXC VIP chapters when needed. It can run in the background without focusing or interrupting your current window.
This behavior is automatic and cannot be changed in Settings.
In the mobile app, sign in to JJWXC and make sure the full chapter has loaded before extracting it.
Kakao
The extension automatically uses its specialized extraction process for both free and VIP Kakao chapters. The Kakao window must stay focused and undisturbed while extraction runs, so it may briefly interrupt what you are doing.
This behavior is automatic and cannot be changed in Settings.
In the mobile app, the Kakao reader may briefly reload or move past the cover while preparing the chapter. Keep OmniTranslate open until extraction finishes.
Ciweimao
The extension automatically extracts Ciweimao chapters, including chapters displayed as images. It can normally run in the background without focusing your current window.
This behavior is automatic and has no separate setting to enable.
In the mobile app, wait for the chapter text or image to finish loading. Avoid changing the chapter or font size until extraction finishes.
Fanqie
The extension automatically handles Fanqie's protected characters and can usually run in the background without focusing your current window.
This behavior is automatic and has no separate setting to enable.
In the mobile app, open the chapter in OmniTranslate's built-in browser and let the text finish loading before extraction.
SFACG
The extension automatically extracts both free and VIP SFACG chapters on book.sfacg.com and m.sfacg.com, including chapters displayed as images. It also helps remove pinyin annotations and colored overlays so the chapter text is easier to translate.
This behavior is automatic and has no separate setting to enable.
In the mobile app, open the chapter in OmniTranslate's built-in browser and wait for the full text or chapter image to load. For VIP chapters, sign in with an account that has purchased the chapter. Avoid changing the chapter or font size until extraction finishes.
Keep your extension and mobile app updated for new site support. For paid chapters, sign in and unlock the chapter on the source site first.
